Always tired despite having enough sleep
Anyone who is repeatedly tired after at least eight hours of sleep throughout the day should research the causes. Because the backgrounds can be serious.

Eight hours a night is still the common recommendation of doctors when it comes to sleep. But there are people who go to bed early, even sleep ten hours or more, only to feel exhausted, exhausted and tired the next morning. If this happens regularly, one speaks of “chronic fatigue”. It continues into the day and points to a more serious cause than "only" lack of sleep. The following serious diseases can be the reason for leaden fatigue.

Iron deficiency
If you feel constantly weak and just can't really get going, you should have your iron value checked. Chronic fatigue may indicate that you have too little of the vital trace element in your blood. The result: The red blood cells no longer transport enough oxygen between the body cells. According to the German Medical Association, women in particular are often affected by iron deficiency.
Other signs include:
- Hair loss,
- Lack of concentration,
- Paleness.
Vitamin B12 deficiency
Even with a lack of vitamin B12, the complaints mentioned above occur. Therefore, it is difficult to determine exactly what the body is missing. Therefore, it is best to clarify both the iron and vitamin B12 values in the blood picture. A lot of vitamin B12 is found in animal foods such as
- Liver,
- Herring,
- Salmon,
- Beef,
- Milk and milkproducts,
- Eggs
contain. Therefore, vegetarians or vegans are most often affected by a deficiency.
Diabetes
Persistent fatigue and exhaustion can also be an indication of the onset of diabetes. Due to insulin resistance, the body is no longer able to properly metabolize the carbohydrates from food and convert it into energy for the body's cells. After the blood count, also discuss the blood sugar level with your doctor!

Too little movement
If you sit in front of the screen in the office all day and prefer to sit on the sofa in front of the TV in the evening instead of doing sports, you shouldn't be surprised if you get tired and sluggish. It has been shown that even moderate exercise (especially in the fresh air) can reduce exhaustion and get the circulation going again.
Too little fluid
Doctors recommend adults to consume one and a half liters of water a day. Even more so if you are sick, do a lot of sports or have high outside temperatures. After all, the cells in the body can only function and work properly if they are supplied with enough fluid.
Antihistamines
Hay fever sufferers know it - if the pollen flies, they have no choice but to take anti-allergenic drugs to curb the immune response. Unfortunately, some antihistamines have the disadvantage of making you very sleepy. It is therefore best to take them in the evening before going to bed.
Underactive thyroid
When the thyroid weakens, the whole body is affected. Because the inconspicuous organ is an important hormone control center that not only controls the metabolism, but also other processes in the body.
In the case of an underfunction, the hormones thyroxine and triiodothyronine are no longer produced, which has a negative effect on various other body organs. If the fatigue persists and other symptoms like
- Sensitivity to cold,
- Weight gain or
- Listlessness
it is advisable to go to the doctor. (fs)
